Last week, during National School Lunch Week, our pirates set sail for a different kind of adventure\u2014one on land! Captain Dustin and Matt traded the decks of the Royal Conquest for classrooms, visiting James Sanderlin K-8 and Dunedin Elementary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of our Hearts & Minds<\/em> project, we were thrilled to spend time with the students, sharing our love of books, adventure, and, of course, pirates! Together, we talked about Penny the Pirate Pup<\/em>, our children\u2019s book about Penny\u2019s exciting escapades in Boca Ciega Bay. The kids lit up with questions about life as a pirate, and our crew was happy to answer them all\u2014rumor has it, there might be some future pirates in the making! <\/p>\n\n\n\n National School Lunch Week, celebrated each October (postponed this year due to the recent hurricanes), highlights the importance of healthy school lunches in fueling students for learning and success. It\u2019s a chance to emphasize the connection between nutritious meals and academic achievement while also celebrating the amazing staff who make it all possible. This year, we were proud to add a touch of adventure to the festivities with stories and smiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To make the experience even more special, we gave away copies of Penny the Pirate Pup to inspire a love of reading and adventure at home. Seeing the students’ excitement was a treasure worth more than gold. <\/p>\n\n\n\n National School Lunch Week reminds us of the importance of connecting with the next generation, and we\u2019re honored to be part of their journey.
